Well the bike ride started well but ended in defeat. I got lost and.... Even writing that is making me feel some kind of way. I ended up having a cussing fit and took a look at myself and said this is having the opposite effect that it was supposed to and realized there was a train station a five minutes ride away. In less than an hour I'll be back home where I can have a little cry and pick myself back up.
Im not ready to go back to work Thursday.

Today I spent the day starting to set up basic things on my new CachyOS installation, and while this part is always a bit long, it's also a nice to take inventory of what I'm using, especially since some of those choices were made before I decided to go FLOSS as much as possible and think about information privacy. Just said good bye to a lot of browser extensions, changed out Thunderbird for Betterbird and we'll see what's next!

Trying to get my xbox controller to connect on CachyOS (booting through the test usb, maybe part of the problem). Not discoverable, even after the firmwear update. (Actually one was discoverable before the update.)
Reading forum posts and the number of people who have absolutely no shame in saying Grok/Copilot/ChatGPT told me to do this (and then sometimes copy wholesale the response) is staggering. Pena ajena. Anyway, if you're reading this and have any tips, I'm all ears.

Please understand that if you ask me to join you and a friend I don't know somewhere where we need to be social and I ask you if they are going to be weird and exoticize me, one of the few wrong answers you can give is to start lecturing me about how all French people are not the same. I will definitely not come then. (This goes for just about any time a friend is looking for reassurance from xenophobia, racism, homophobia, etc. in an unknown setting.)
